colour chart

For what purpose SW?

i have been looking around and trying to find a colour chart...

is there anything wrong with just downloading one and printing it out then just laminating it???

If it's for critical colour work then I'm afraid it's something like the Gretag-McBeth route and having to sell your first-born to raise the money to pay for it as the colour accuracy is guaranteed.

According to the information which came with the one I have, the fidelity is only good for about fours years, after which the second-born has to be sold to pay for a new one.

Anthony.

pointless if it's not an accurate one. Printing one at home will only work if your printer reproduces colours perfectly, that's why the charts aren't cheap :(

SW if you concentrate on getting the white balance right you shouldn't need to worry. If it looks good on your screen and your screen is calibrated then the prints should look good too.

Hi SW
Lastolite do a triple A4 fold-out sample card of their paper backgrounds. The card contains 32 2 inch square colour samples. It makes a great colour chart that easily slips into a camera bag when shooting and then you can whip it out again for comparison with your test image displayed on the monitor or a print. You should be able to get one free from Lastolite professional, but obviously tell ‘em you’re interested in their paper range. If you fancy one but have no success with Lastolite, then let me know by Friday and I’ll pick one up at the SWPP Convention and post it on to you.

thanks for that ill see what reply i get ill try and find an email address for them now

Oh, I'm sorry I thought the reason why the OP had decided not to print and laminate a chart was because it wasn't colour accurate

To be honest a simple neutral grey card would do the trick for you. I have a Macbeth chart and seldom use it. I find a grey card of more use.
