On my new Mac I`v been doing B&W photos they look nice deep black but when printed they have a brown tint to them how can this be corrected.

Are you printing from potatoshop? What profiles are you using and are your images totally devoid of colour information?

Printing from iphoto to canon 6700 printer the photos are good fine detail good range of blacks and whites but theres a hint of light brown which is not on screen ,i`v just ran spyder2express but no real change to mac .

Can you select an option in your printer settings to print black and white only - if so and if you still get the brown tint then I'd say that points to your inks (or maybe even paper) - are you using third party inks?

colour casts are pretty much standard with one black printers. nothing wrong with yourset up its just your printer is not able to print B&W

Paper and Ink are both made by Canon will have a look if there is a B&W setting on printer.

I'll be really surprised if you manage to solve this problem without profiling your printer and paper. POAH is spot on with his (knowledgeable) assessment.
