OK, maybe this should be in the Film section but I suspect not everyone that knows the answer would go in there - what with all the dark corners and cobwebs and so on...

I need to get some film developed, in Norwich, asap. Is Jessops the only option for 1 hr processing?

Arthur

Boots, Snappy Snaps round my way. Not sure about Norwich though.

I think it's the 1hr option you are all missing here! If I take them into any of those above they will wrap 'em up and ship 'em out. I can do that myself!

Arthru

Not Norwich though, unfortunately. So not a lot of help there then :D

So - is there anywhere, in Norwich, doing 1hr processing, apart from Jessops?

Arthur

Just had a look on their website:

Norwich, Blue Boar Lane - 1 hour service

Kings Lynn, Hardwick Road - 7 day service

Steve.

Yes indeed. Kings Lynn is 55 miles away from me (it is also a 7 day service) and Blue Boar Lane is about 20 miles. Hence why I said that Tesco was a non-starter. There's one at Thetford too, it's actually also closer to me than Blue Boar Lane

Thanks for answering though - maybe I should have pointed out I am actually about 10 miles south of Norwich :(

Thanks for answering though.

At what point previous to this did you say Tesco was a non-starter. Steve was only trying to help and frankly you're attitude leaves a lot to be desired. Perhaps you could get off your arse, use a phone and call any of the minilabs, supermarket or otherwise listed in google/yellow pages etc.

Arthur, Asda in Great Yarmouth definitely do 1 hour processing, and I'm 90% sure the Asda in Hellesdon do too (near Warehouse Express)....

Well, thanks for that Kev. I was simply asking because many of the labs/studios in Norwich (and there are a lot of them) do not advertise that they do a processing service. And so, rightly or wrongly, I thought someone local would know of one I had missed - not expecting someone not from Norwich or immediate surroundings to answer...

Do you not think I have already checked the obvious options? Do I really give the appearance of someone that thick that I would ask questions like this if I had the answers in front of me?

Perhaps I could get off my arse indeed, but today is a bad day and to be honest, getting off my arse is a bit difficult.

Do Coes still have a processing lab in Norwich? They always used to, but this was when they had a shop on Castle Meadow and I know thats gone. They had another place on Mountergate which was not normally visited by the public but I had to collect some prints from there once.

Well thankyou, but I don't think I have been rude to anybody at all - just replying to posts as they appeared.

Whatever, maybe I'll forget the film, drop it in the bin and go back to the dark room with the padded walls eh? Leave you ultra-polite people to have the world to yourselves?

Thanks to everyone for your help, despite his attitude, Kevin does seem to have sorted my problem for me, for which I also thank him. I still feel a little bemused but I daresay time in the padded cell will allow my mind time to sort through things.

Arthur

Umm - I have to say that after looking at the Rapture site the more I see the more I like - so I really do mean thankyou to Kevin. This (Rapture) company does 120 too, at a decent price, and all sorts of stuff I wouldn't dream of asking a minilab to do. No idea where it is but I am sure I can get it out of Google.

Arthur

**edit - they have a V700!

**edit - they are right next to the chip shop on Hall Road, perfect

It's just up the road from tuckswood McDonalds on the roundabout near the Hewitt School....

And I agree Arthur, I can't see where you've been rude, I think Kevin might be reading your posts the wrong way!

It's difficult to judge attitudes when the only reference is written words on a forum. Without the body language and tone of voice associated with a proper face to face conversation. A lot of threads degenerate quickly because of this. I certainly did not take exception to any of the replies.

Although I'm not from Norfolk (but have visited a few times) I suggested Tesco as a generic brand rather than a localised service as I have been pleased with their service in the past. As a national company, they probably have contracts for the same equipment in all of their stores where photo processing is offered and the quality is probably similar in all of them.

Steve.

I do appreciate the help Steve, really I do - but tesco would not be my first choice for this to tell the truth!

Hmm. Well anyway, the Tesco at Blue Boar Lane no longer does it, Rapture do, and one of the best chippie's in Norwich next door is another big plus in my book. Add that to the fact that the people that run the place are Togs proper and I'm dead chuffed.

Just been on the phone to Rapture and they actually do not *always* do a one hour service - especially in winter - because of the costs involved in firing up the processor and getting it warm! Nonetheless, I am going to nip in tomorrow and have a natter. Turns out he's a couple of pounds cheaper than Jessops, and he will check each negative before printing too! A very nice man and one that is likely to have all my colour films in the future. I reckon on only a couple or three a month which he's pleased to do but if anyone else nearby wants to use him then he can get closer to that one hour!

Certainly, despite the sometime tone of this thread, things have turned out even better than I expected, so it looks like the Leica will get even more use in the future even after the D1x arrives and we wave bye bye to the 300D!

Arthur

PS - turns out if I had entered Photo processing in Google rather than Film processing I would have got them right away...

OK then, here I sit looking at the 24 piccies I picked up today after a trip to Norwich - dropped film off on the way in, collected on the way out. £15 total including a three pack of Superia 36's. Very pleased and even more so as they are our side of the city.

Once again, an excellent find Steve, thanks. I even found out he's changing the chemical bath just after Christmas (hence the three rolls of film :D ) so another reason to go to someone you can talk to that does this stuff himself!

Arthur

PS - the man has some amazing wildlife pics on display, I so wish I was half as good!

PPS - the Leica? Not so good in the snow it seems, the light seems to confuse it...

If it's the place I'm thinking of, then the shop is owned and run by a husband and wife team..

Yep, he has some amazing wildlife portraits which he uses to make greeting cards for sale..

He told me about the Canon 600mm f4 IS he uses with a nice 1 series body ;)...erm at that point, I got my :coat: lol

I think it is, his wife was at the showground doing a craft fair - love the shop though, tiny but like an Aladdin's cave for a film photographer.
