Thanks, today I used my Canon 500mm f4 which I rested on a monopod and lifted up to track the bird (gee is it heavy!) and take the shot, I usually use a Canon 400mm f5.6 lens. I shoot in AV with continuous focusing and ISO 400 and various shutter speeds. My first attempts at birds in flight were just a blur but just keep at it, practice, as it is so rewarding when it finally comes together
