Beginner Common Field Grasshopper?

They sound like crickets in the garden. But if you think they're something else, I would like to know so I don't keep labelling them as such.

Seems common field grasshopper would be the closest I could find, does that seem right?

Yes I think you have the right identification now. Crickets are chunkier and more compact, though some species are a reasonable size.

This is a green cricket I photographed with the wife's old Lumix TZ5, gotta love the DOF you get with a tiny sensor. That's the basic layout for a cricket, the one below is a female, hence the hook for inserting eggs into the soil.

I'm still learning with getting the DR right, but I'll get there eventually.

I think the distinguishing feature for crickets may be the very long, thin antennae, like in Tim's example.

Nice images, and well done getting them. I find them very easy to disturb. Here is another rendition of the first one.
