Being a Local boy I am really excited for the games to be in Birmingham and I have a few events planed over the next few weeks.

So far Triathlon (Women) and Cycling today in London.

Never shot Cycling before but was amazed with the freedom I had to walk around and shoot as it wasn't at capacity. Even stood in the photographers area and directly oposite the line for a period.

Photos not perfect and my low speed pans seemed to come out a bit soft although I was shooting through a 20cm gap in the guard rail to get the right angle on some! - so many moving parts compared to motorsport, but I got the hang of it in the end.5G4A9752.jpg5G4A9769.jpg5G4A9810.jpg5G4A9819.jpg5G4A9848.jpg5G4A9886.jpg

Really liked this one on the camera as its quite hard to get the riders in exactly the position you want when you want, but sadly it was a bit soft :(

Great images, I wish I could have been there to take photographs.

I suspect not many agree with me but I hate the idea of "Jerusalem" as the English national anthem. It was chosen based on a survey in 2010 and they were only given 3 choices. Having a national anthem named after a city nowhere near England seems stupid to me. Also the words are about Jesus visiting Glastonbury with Joseph of Arimathea for which there is no evidence. In any case it is intended to be religious. Surely the right thing would be to follow Scotland and and have a a new anthem written and ensure that it is secular and thus should not offend any religion.

English National Anthem? I thought that was the football song "Vindaloo"?

Been a bit busy these last few days to upload anymore but I've been to loads of events was able to amble around freely at the athletics on Thursday and Saturday night so I could get a bit closer to the action, specifically the Long Jump (Thursday) and Pole Vault (Saturday) and at the road race on Sunday in Leamington and Wawrick it was fantastic. First some from the road race as I mistaken saved my exports too large to upload from the athletics!

We went to Manchester Commonwealth games in 2002 and the anthem then was Land of Hope and Glory.
