I was hoping to pick some ones brains on compact flash cards,

I currently have a couple of Scandisk 8Gb cards, but may needs to get another 10 between now and Christmas. Now they are not cheap at around £17 to £23 each.

What I was wondering where do you get your cards from?

Does anywhere do a bulk buy discount?

Lexar, Kingston and Transcend seem a bit cheaper but are they cheaper for a reason?

And finally give how cheap SD cards are is there any real advantage to compact flash format?

Cheers

CF tend to be a bit higher in price, try putting an wanted add on the forum you may be able to pick up some good deals on s/h ones :)

Richard, the SanDisk Ultra deal at Currys and PCWorld is for SD cards...

Mark, 7dayshop do a sort of bulk discount and have always supplied me with genuine SanDisk cards. I now use only SanDisks after a cheapo card crapped out on me after an unrepeatable shoot.

The reason I use CF cards in my DSLR is that they're the cards it takes!

I bought a couple of Transcend 16Gb cards from Ebuyer.com and they were a good price then.

I've just had a quick look now and they have Kingston 8Gb 40x cards for £8.50 each.

Thanks Guys will have have a look at the suggestions.

With cameras like D800 having both CF and SD slots, and given the cheaper price of SD was wondering if CF will still be around long term.
