Compact/Mini tripod. Recommendations please.

Hello everyone,

As the title says,I'm looking for a mini tripod (or whatever they're called :thinking:) for the occasions where my current Manfrotto 190XProb won't reach low enough?

I haven't really got a budget in mind,and would rather spend more to get something sturdy enough to hold either my 5D or 7D along with a 100mm IS Macro.

I've been looking at the Gitzo one listed in the link below to give some idea as to what I'm after...If anyone has experience with it.

Never thought of those to be honest.

Wouldn't have thought they could hold a 7D or 5D II with lens too sturdy though?
 
I've stuck (sorry attached) my D700 & MB-D10 & Nikon's 70-200 VRII to this little fella TrekTech T-Pod Table Tripod with no worries what so ever.... I even done the review on Amazon for it as well :$
 
If the specs on here are right, your current tripod drops to 8cm? Seems pretty low, if not wrong stats?!

If you're prepared to spend anything I'd recommend looking at getting a new set of legs completely by upgrading your manfrotto. I love my gitzo; GT1541T but at a minimum height of 17cm perhaps that's still not low enough for you? What height are you looking to get down to?

Looking at the 2 links you guys have given me,I'm thinking my current one should do the job.

I've only recently bought it (second hand) and it came with no instructions,and I had no idea the centre column was removable like the diagrams show....IDIOT!!! :(
