Panasonic Lumix TZ7. Can be had for just under £230 on amazon.co.uk. Google for reviews; it wipes the floor with everything else in it's class.

Thanks. Must admit that was top of my list. However, would prefer something a little smaller ideally with image quality the priority. Its for the wifes handbag

The Panasonic produces great images, also gives you zoom capabilities during video capture, fully auto so camera does everything what more could she want unless diamonds are involved
