Compact travel super-zoom - Canon, Olympus or Nikon?

Have been looking at compact travel zooms - x25 or above and compact. Have found Canon SX700, Olympus SH-1, Nikon S9700 and trying to decide. Have Canon 5d MkIII and this is a supplement. Some people have criticised the Nikon build? there is also a Sony super zoom HX50 - but I noticed that this has been reduced and has been around a while so perhaps being withdrawn in favour of a new model?

Any views on these please?

The Sony HX50 has recently been replaced by the HX60, but to be honest that just puts the HX50 down to a nicely discounted price. It's a good option at £200.
If you want a viewfinder on something you can still fit in a pocket then have a look at the new Panasonic TZ60 which has one built in.
 
Panasonic DMC TZ60 - thanks - also found that AND it does RAW - this could be the decider for me! PLUS £30 cashback at present.
 
Nice feel, zoom good, GPS works OK, works with LR5. Used to Canon 5D MkIII so images are not up to DSLR but look fine on a PC - just look a bit "grainy" on LR when "developing". I suppose it lives up to my expectations as a "point and shoot" for my pocket / my other halves handbag. Wouldn't want it as my only camera.

One site said better quality images when saved at lower - e.g. 5-10megapixels - so will give a try . . .

Hows low light indoor handling are they are good quality?

does the evf come in handy outside in bright sunlight or is it useless?

hard to test a few bits like that on shop floor. Was planning on going today to have a look but delayed until tomorrow now
 
EVF limited resolution but def useful in sunlight. Haven't tried in low light yet. Too nice in garden!

Just had a look in shop viewfinder seemed great from limited time I had to look

Does the ring on the lens allow you to zoom in and out I couldn't seem to get it to, unless there is a setting ?
 
Zoom is by twisting outer part of shutter button.
Lens ring can be set for various settings - e.g. aperture in "A" setting.
 
My wife, and occasionally I, used this on holiday in Sicily. The EVF is certainly a bonus in bright sunlight. Exposure compensation was useful as well. The zoom range is very useful and it seemed to cope with bright sunlit days to sunsets. Never up to SLR quality but don't regret buying.
