Compact type for landscapes

I want to buy a camera for my mum as she's only got a little old Nikon P50 and it's not that great for landscapes, i was thinking along the lines of a fujifilm.
Budget is around £200 and she's not that clued up with exposure settings so P mode at best !

I think 24mm equiv is about as wide as compacts go as far as i know, which is about 16mm on your d300. Lumix spring to mind, but i'm sure they all do one.

Funny enough i just saw a good deal on the updated model the f550 with its built in gps in ASDA. £160 in a holiday kit with a leather case 8gb sd card card reader and travel plug charger.

My local Jessops were selling off their stock of Fuji F500s recently for £99. It's a bargain at that price.

There are still a few about quite cheap too, although the price can vary wildly.

You could get newer Fuji's like the F600, F660, F700 or F750 for less than, or around £200. Not sure the specific differences between them, and whether newer is better, but there is a lot of choice even amongst the Fuji cameras for less than £200.
