Thinking of entering a competition (I know  don't laugh but will give me some incentive ) and it says that photographs have to be mounted.

Give me a clue anyone please

Is this on a board, with a "mount" around it and not framed, if so what do you use or do.

Thank you

(o.k. you can now all commence laughing again at the thought of one of my pictures in a comp  )

Mounting a print is indeed fixing it to a board of some description Nicki, your local art shop would be the best place to go. Just a case of using a spray adhesive or a sheet of the Blue Peter double sided sticky stuff.

You had best do a Google search on the subject Nicki as there are plenty of tutorials on the subject, I do not know what size the print will be. It will also depend on what you mount it on, for example if you used a board or hard foam then you might decide not to have a border. If it is going to be stuck on a stiff card and a seperate card frame stuck on top again, then you could either have the same size border all around it or a wider border at the top and bottom, the options are endless  You could just take it into a shop and ask if they could mount it for you, that way you will see close hand what the finished article will look like.

Thanks just wondered what the standard comp rules are as regarding this or wether it was personal opinions as never done one of these before, and does not state in the rules.

Will try and find out.

Oh right I see now. Which competition is it Nicki?

Right, do they have open catagories or specific ones you can enter? Do you know who is doing the judging? I entered some at a local School last year and got five 2nd places and one 1st place. They had someone from a Photography club judging plus a couple of teachers. I got a £10 vocher off of our local printing shop  but it got used all the same.
