Condensation

So a couple of weeks ago I was in Hong Kong and visited Victoria peak and out of nowhere it absolutely chucked it down. Camera went straight in my bag and bag got covered in its rain cover. The bag was not very wet and has been wetter in the past and the camera was certainly not soaked. So then went back to hostel and never thought any more of it. The next morning got up and caught the ferry to Macau pretty early on. When I got off the ferry and got the camera out it was totally fogged up. On taking the lens off the inner lens was covered in condensation and despite trying to clean it, it just kept on coming back. Looking through the view finder it was still foggy even without the lens on. This took a good hour or so to fix itself.
I had previously been in China for 2 and a half weeks with plenty of rain and in and out of Air con without any problems.
Has anyone got any advice on how to avoid this as it was a real pain and I missed some good shots.
I was using a 550D with a 15-85mm fitted.

Every situation is slightly different and those that appear fairly similar to us may, in terms of relative humidity and temperature, be quite different.

The problem here was leaving the camera in the bag overnight. The dampness had no where to evaporate to and the camera itself probably did not get as warm as it would have done, had it been out of the bag.

I'd just leave the camera out of the bag in a warm room and eventually the condensation will disappear.

Cameras can't be totally sealed, otherwise altitude changes could be devastating.
Anyone who wears glasses knows all to well the effect of sudden changes, best to reduce the rate of change, how you do that going into a building with air con, I'm not sure.
