Hey all!
Just spied a live feed from the iPhone 3.0 Software launch from California.

CONFIRMED FEATURES:
  • Cut and Paste!!!!
  • MMS for Photo and Sound - *Only for 3G not 2G :(
  • App Push Alerts
  • Landscape mode for most original apps such as mail

Apparently it's relatively good news.

iPhone 3G owners will get everything where as iPhone 2G owners have to do without MMS & A2DP Bluetooth as there's a hardware incompatibility.
 
Just heard too that there is a provision for tethering inbuilt to 3.0 but it is up to the networks eg o2 to use it or not :( Something tells me o2 will quietly gloss over it as they are making a lot from their 3G Dongles.
 
Dont think so. From what I understand things such as MMS wont be available in the 2G version. Makes me think they may release one version for the 2G and one version for the 3G.
Either way cant see it slowing things down - infact one of the main points is that lots of the slow bugs shall be ironed out.
 
I really want an iphone but on my current contract I get £25 a month, free phone, unlimited texts and 600 minutes.

£100 iphone with 125 texts and 75 minutes is a joke for £30 a month, and £350 alone for the phone again is a lot of money for what it is.
 
I see you can now buy officially sanctioned, unlocked 3g phones from the likes of Amazon ect.

But at a cost that'll make you sick!
 
Tis a fair point. The £35 is about right and not too expensive. Alternatively wait - AT&T have just released the iphone on a rolling no commitment contract. Usually UK providers (o2) will follow suit so heres hoping!
Another idea - register for o2 business - not hard to do - just say you are a sole trader - all they ask for is letterheads and you can get an o2 business tariff - including free unlimited o2 to o2 calls. Awesome if peeps you call are on same network.
