Confused about Nikon lenses

After rumaging around on the bay, I noticed an ad for a Nikkor AF s lens which they say fitted a D60 and D90. Now, am I correct in saying it won't AF on the D90 and if I am, why not? I'd just like to clarify this for myself.

Also what are AI s lenses designed for? As I said, just trying to get my head round this.

From my understanding anything with AF-S will work on a camera without a focus motor in the body but also on those with focus motor's built into the body.

AI/s lenses are manual focus but only meter on DXXX bodies , as well as the D3 of course.
