confused:help needed buying a camera

im a total novice too photography but want to buy a camera with lenses etc with the idea of it becoming a small hobbie....im not technical so i need some advice on what would be best to start with!!nikon,canon etc etc.so much out there im confused...no more that £300 TOPS!

Go used, Canon 350d, olympus e410, sony alpha etc.

The olympus E140 was available at currys for £190 with a twin lens kit about a year ago, so there may be some used ones from people who just bought them cos they were cheap.

Good choice! Many togs on here started with this, and some, (me included) still use them!
your best bet is to search the classified on here, there are a couple of bargains to be had. AND before you ask, yes, you are able to\buy as a newcomer, just not able to sell!.
 
Try and get a secondhand one you get more gear for your money. have a look in the secondhand section.
 
It should be possible to get a new DSLR + kit lens for £300.

The Olympus 420 + 14-42mm lens is £299 at a dealer I've just looked at and I'm pretty sure that there are one or two others at the £300 mark.

PS - It might be worthwhile buying a photography mag and scanning the trade ads. Maybe you could pick up a copy of something like Amateur Photographer?

Just recently picked up a refurbed canon 1000d with IS kit lens from the canon refurb shop on ebay for £300. Comes with a years warranty too.
