Connect iPhone to DSLR Lens

I remember seeing something about these before, but it struck me as completely pointless. Sure, you'll have a more powerful lens, but the sensor and image handling is still crappy.

The problem is that it's just adding the lens on top of the iPhone's cheap plastic tiny lens element, so you're not improving IQ, just adopting the focal length characteristics of the transplanted lens.

I guess it's fun if you happen to have $250 spare to waste on it, though

Glad no one said they'd used one! The suggested threads were an interesting read, thanks :)

I think it's an ace idea. Just think of all those times you get caught short with a bag of lenses but no camera body to put them on.

I like the idea, if only to try and utilise what the iPhone can offer when combined with a big old DSLR lens. Okay, it makes the whole lightweight camera phone argument defunct, but as a cheap HD video recorder it allows some pretty funky options at a relatively low price.

Is anyone else sick to death of everyone using the Iphone for absolutely bloody everything!

The gadget show (crap as it is) seems hell bent on using an iphone for everything in life!

Oh, and if they banned the use of the word "tech" from an episode then Suzi Perry would be mute!

You want to take pictures? carry a camera!
You want to record video? carry a camcorder!
You want to see your friends when talking to them? visit them!

On the contrary I think it's great that I carry a device that is so much more than a phone that not only enables me to video chat for free with my family in the uk as well as sending them unlimited free messages, that is my iPod, my tomtom, my social media hub that also has the ability to take decent photos despite what the inherent snobby attutude found here would have you believe.

Something I really need to know. What's the crop factor? :)

9.7x crop apparently....

...so that'll be an f/2.8 680-1940mm there or thereabouts... Love it :)
