Connecting D3X to Windows Computer

Hi Guys and Gals,

Managed to purchase a D3X quite reasonably, without manuals, cables boxes etc.. The camera is far better than I am, but I thought I'd try and take a couple of shots this evening to see what it was like. Got home and I'm unable to connect it to my computer.

I just thought I could use a usb cable and turn it on, but PC says "Unrecognised device".

Anyone give me any pointers please ?

Have you got a compact flash card reader? That should work and be a lot faster than trying to connect the body direct.

I haven't, I can get one.

Just thought I might be able to connect direct. I want to see my images

Maybe the usb cable is specific - saw this one on Amazon

I had a similar issue with a canon I got and got some great help on here which did the trick (had to change a communication setting on the camera)

A different cable did the job, thanks Mich. Unfortunately my pictures aren't great. Next time maybe.
