connecting laptop to TV

i want to be able to link my laptop to my TV in a dual screen setup so i can watch films ,

i have done this with my main pc using the s-video out on my graphics card, but my laptop doesnt have one.

all it has is the standard moniter out serial connecter.

what can i do to get it working?

Buy a tv with a monitor in socket!, good excuse to upgrade

Sounds like you need some sort of VGA to RGB adapter. Check out your local Maplins for stuff like that.

What connector is on the lappy - and what connectors are available on your TV?

I've just connected my macbook via mini-DVI to DVI - to HDMI and it works a treat.

on my laptop i have the bog standard moniter out ( blue plug)

on my TV i have s-video, RCA and scart
