As title states, I'm really tempted to get a Tamron 70-200 2.8 vc lens, for my Nikon D610.

Any issues I should be looking out for, e.g. I have read that Tamron's quality control isn't the greatest?

Also, would be grateful if any one can point me in the direction of any particular good deals, for this lens.

Thanks for highlighting that Shaun.

Did you purchase off digitalrev? Everything go smoothly? How long did it take to get the lens to you?

Thanks,

John

I got mine from simply electronic, I had no problems, just ordered a D7200 from DigitalRev so fingers crossed :-)

Typically the HK suppliers take 3 or 4 days to get it to you, pretty impressive really.

Gary that for canon they don't seem to have a Nikon fit on there website at the present,
And DigitalRev was £689 in an Easter deal at the time of writing

I had the Canon version of this lens and as Gary said it didn't work with TC, when I tried the AF would hunt and take a good 3-4 seconds to lock on. That was with a non-reporting Kenko 1.4x.

I also had an AF issue on one of my bodies when using certain AF points, it would severely back-focus with anything other than the centre point, I suspect the lens just needed a firmware update.

Apart from that it was a great lens, very sharp even wide open, the AF was quick and it was well built.

I have found that a visit to the gym helps, as it is a heavy lens but produces some cracking photos.

Have ordered, from DigitalRev, as they have an attractive discount at the moment. Here's hoping everything goes smoothly. Will report back, on DigitalRev experience and thoughts on the lens.
