No
Contax Lens to Canon EOS EF Mount Adapter anyone in the Uk supply these as i have been looking into the Contax lens range MMJ & MMG which seam to get brilliant reviews and lots cheaper than Canon.

Ok no AF but i can live with that as i like to MF through liveview and know the focus is right.

Someone must know where is best to buy a good adapter ring i'm not sure with the ebay cheapo ones.

I bought one from ebay a few years ago for a Yashica which I think is the same mount, can't remember cost now but it wasn't that expensive. Works fine.

Done some more research and found this site http://www.leitax.com/ which look to be very good and have positive commnets at other forums.

No, these are replacement mounts in order to use the lenses on Pentax, Sony and Nikon cameras. This involves unsrewing the existing Contax mount and completely replacing the rear. You simply need an adapter for a Canon EOS DSLR.

Robert White do very expensive ones:

Or you could just try a standard ebay jobbie such as:

(the happypagehk adapter is usually recommended although mine was slightly loose fitting)

Many thanks for your time and effort and the AF-Confirm Contax-EOS PRO Adapter looks very good and now to source a 35-70 3.4 :)

Yes i have read only good reviews about this particular lens and it's very hard to source a nice one but i will come across one somewhere if its this week or next year :)

Change of plan and bought the 28-80 3.4 instead as it will give me a little bit more on the focal range and is as equally as good as the 35-70 just a little heavier and wider objective end 82mm i believe.

Hi

Not sure if you need an adapter anymore, but if so and you've still not souced one, give SRB Griturn a bell / look on their web, they are very helpful and will talk about various options if there is more than 1 adapter available, not the cheapest mind, but the quality is there as is the customer service...

Hope this is of help...

Ah, do you mean the 28-85? If so, I believe it is also a great lens, bit more distortion and obviously heavier, but excellent image quality nonetheless! Congrats :)

Yes sorry the 28-85mm 3.4-4 and is it the distortion is at the lower 28 spectrum when into the 30's it comes into its own and some bold statements i have read it is the best zoom lens ever made.

What price would you say it appropriate for a mint one boxed.

Not a problem. My FIL has dealt with them and has been very impressed with their service and friendliness as he had lots of questions.

If you don't get sorted out, might be worth a call

Will do and thanks for the link i have saved it to my Favs.

Bought an E Bay cheapie - well made and works just fine!
10 Quid inc postage.

Time to make my mind up and i would prefer to buy Uk as dont want to wait upto 6 weeks from HK

2 Weeks max in my experience. However if you can find a reasonable deal in the UK then go for it! I buy locally whenever I can - both to support my local retailer and because they are frequently cheaper! Bought all my L lenses, DSLR's and my Gitzos locally, simply because of the excellent service and (especially the Gitzos) price!
I go international for things I can't source locally which, unfortunately, is quite a lot - though not the big purchases!

Fully understandable and i always find HK stuff does not have the quality feel of the UK quality or a brand name but i can see where you are coming from.

Just be wary of the infinity focus issues with the cheap adapters. I was pulling my hair out on this one and tried a few adapters only to find out no one adapter or lens is perfect.

I opened a thread on fredmiranda about just that and made a couple of demo videos as well, well worth a look.

actually, i cannot find a URL for the thread but i will have a look a little later.

Unless you spend a lot of money on a UK or European made adapter, you'll find that most adapters sold in the UK are the same Hong Kong / Chinese adapters imported and sold on for a premium anyway ;)

As Ali says, most adapters are slightly too thin and allow lenses to focus beyond infinity. This only becomes a real issue when using certain lenses on full frame, as it can bring the body of the lens too close to the mirror causing the mirror to get stuck (temporarily).

As mentioned before, the black adapters seem to be closer to infinity in my experience.

Thanks manualfocus-g and i had to send me 28-85 contax back as it had a forign object inside the lens like a small black flake much much larger than dust.

Also i found the cheaper adapter does excatly what you said would not go to infinity.
