Continuos Mode.

Got my new D7OOO the other day. Got a lot to learn as new to DSLR,s
Have not had time to really have a go due to work, but had a little play with it today and took a few photos around the house.
Tried the Continuos mode and it worked a couple of times, then stopped, and will not work again.

Is there a certain setting for this? as Not sure if Ive pressed a wrong button somwhere, or could it be a fault with camera?

Hi Kevin

As Adrian suggests, check your card isn't full - if you've been firing off shots and not deleted any from your card, it could well be full now...

If this isn't the case, check your settings - what have you got the dial set to (on a Canon body, in the basic zones (Landscape, portrait etc) the camera won't allow certain functions - this may well be the same for your Nikon

Hello Andy.
Tried different zones, portrait ect, and got the camera on CH after releasing the release lock.
At the moment there is only 3 photos on the memory card.

If you are testing now what shutter speed are you getting? If say, 1/5th then don't expect rapid shooting (if that makes sense).

If you are shooting in auto the shutter speed should be displayed at the bottom of the screen in the viewfinder. Fast continuous is usually used for sports when shooting at 1/500th (ish) so it will sound like a machine gun but if you are just messing with it indoors this evening I suspect your shutter speed will be very slow so you will not get the 'machine gun' type sound you are expecting - just a thought.

Thanks, Think I really need to try outside at some fast moving dogs, horses ect, which is mainly what I will be taking photos of.
Sorry for all the stupid qeustions but I am new to all this and have got a lot to learn.

Try putting it in manual, set shutter speed to 1/500th and keep your finger on the trigger - see if that gives you the continuous shooting. Ignore the pics though as they will be black - just to test the setting.

Tried that and CH works, did not seem like 6 frames per second, seemed a little slower then that,Although I did not set shutter speed. but it worked.

It wouldn't be to do with it being on afc(think that's what it's called) would it? set it to manual mode and give it a try.

remember that the frame rate will drop off quickly as the buffer fills up and the shots are being written to the card. The speed of your card will also effect this.

Should be fine, not sure what the frame rate is on the D7000. As I said CH is used for events such as sports and not everyday type shots. Enjoy.
