Controlling power of Godox 860 / V1 acting as on-camera trigger

I'm testing using a godox speedlight on-camera to control a remote flash.

Controlling the remote flash is easy enough and I have it assigned to Group A. The problem I have is how to control the power of the speedlight itself.

It looks like you need to assign the speedlight to a group, I'm choosing B but it keeps resetting itself after a couple of frames to assign the speedlight to A.

What am I doing wrong? Any ideas?

It's simple
The camera mounted light is always Grp A

So if you need the remote to have different power, obviously that needs to be a different group
