Hello all. Just wanted opinions on this http://www.jessops.com/online.store/products/33050/show.html

Would this be a good option on a 400d with a 55-200 1:4-5.6 tamron lens till i can afford a good 400mm canon lens. Do they affect the focus time and image quality much as i want to try some aviation photography

A 2X is going to make your 400mm f11 for a start and whilst TC's always give a hit on IQ I suspect a Jessops version would be probably worse. Additionally using a TC is better on a decent lens to start with. I would save the money, if finances are tight consider the Sigma 120-400, half the price of a Canon 100-400L but definitely not half the perfomance.

Thanks for the advice. Going to take a look at trying a sigma range and then decide wether to purchase or save for the canon one.
