Hi ,
A very basic question . Can I use a canon 1.4x with a sigma 70-200 canon mount or do I have to stay with same make of converter for autofocus .
Just wanted to be sure as been offered canon cheaply and purchased sigma lens yesterday. Cant wait to go play :D

I don't think it will fit.

I don't have one, but I think the Canon TC has a bit which protudes into the back of the lens (or the other way round?) and so will only fit on certain Canon lenses (longer primes above 135mm and the 70-200 / 100-400) only.

I think the Sigma is similar to the Canon in that it will only fit certain Sigma lenses - again I could be wrong.

Kenko TC's will fit on any lens, and so long as the max aperture is f5.6 of wider, then they will autofocus. The Kenko Pro 300 is their best one, and I have heard it is similar in quality to the Canon one.

If you look at the rear mount of the lens and there is a significant recess, then the Canon TC will fit. It has, as already mentioned, a protrusion at the front, which goes inside the rear of the lens. I haven't got the Sigma 70-200, but have used a Canon 2x TC with a Sigma 300mm

thanks for that , I think I will stick to the sigma converter then as its for their 70-200mm:thumbs:
