Convertors

Are jessops convertors any good, are they worth 80quid or am i better going for the nikons

If you buy used you can often pick up a Sigma EX or a Kenko Pro for £80-£90

Much better than the Jessops ones.

i was looking at this on ebay

SOLIGOR MC TELE CONVERTER 2X TO FIT NIKON

I have a D1h and a 80 - 200 f2.8 lens would the convertor work

Compatibillity may be a problem with Sigma converters because the front element sticks out a little, therefore the lens has to have the rear element recessed into the lens body to make room for it. I would also check the Nikon TC for physical compatibility with your intended lenses.
I have no experience of Nikon TCs so can't advise on them, but optically, the Sigma EX 1.4x is better than the Kenko Pro. Both are better than the Jessops version which I believe is a rebadged Kenko standard model, i.e. not Pro.
Another point, if you're considering a 2x teleconverter, most of the time it'll be a waste of time. To get any benefit you have to have top quality glass in front of it, which usually means an OEM prime, in which case you'd hardly be looking at Jessops.

In reply to your last post, whatever the make of your 80-200mm, at F2.8 it's going to be good quality. I wouldn't waste my time with Soligor which is another cheap rebadge make. Check compatibility before buying but go for Nikon, Sigma EX, Kenko Pro 300 in that order of preference.

Isn't Soligor rebadged Kenko?

Isn't Soligor rebadged Kenko?
Probably, because Kenko are the leading generic TC manufacturer. Soligor are like Vivitar - they don't make their own lenses, but buy in from Kenko, Cosina and others at the best price they can.

I believe so, in fact looking at the Canon 2x from Soligor it looks exactly teh same as the Jessop one (Which is a rebadged kenko as mentioned above). The same can be presumed for Nikon.

I would recommend you consider a 1.4x instead. Often the quality drop even with a good 2x is pretty bad on a 70/80-200mm lens.
