Hi guys,

Im not sure where to post this so here goes.

I have just started to get in to the world of photography and it is indeed a very skilled proffesion!

Anyway this is my question:

I have a Nikon D40 and when I take a photo and look at it through imaging software it says the "copyright" of the owner is the guy I bought the camera from. Does anybody no how to set my name to my photos?

Cheers All

P

I don't know the D40 - but run through the menus looking for 'comment'.

I dunno about the D40 but with Canon you can change it in the software that comes with the camera. Did you get a disk?

You don't need any software - it will be in the camera menu somewhere... try the 'set-up' menu. You could also have a look in the manual - if you have one!

Yep got the manual- I thought with me 'reseting' to factory settings would remove this!

Hi,
Go to 'Menu'
go to the 'Setup Menu' screen (the spanner icon)
select 'Image Comment'
select 'Input Image Comment'

Use the Rear thumb dial to move the cursor and the delete button (dustbin) to delete any charactors.

Use the selector dial to choose your own charactors and 'OK' to add them.
When all done use the magnify button to finish

Back at Image Comment screen select 'Attach Comment' to add your own comments to your pictures or de-select for none!

Hope that helps

Ray

I've just checked my bodies - under set up menu - 'image comment' - that's what to look for!

interesting stuff !
i've got the d60 and was unaware of this feature

is it the norm to use this and put your name in ?

yes if you want to try to protect your pics.

It puts your name into the exif data, so it doesn't stop edits. Worth doing though.

Doesn't stop editing but it puts your name in the EXIF. Also puts your name in the camera - can't be bad - might help if it were stolen.

Unless the thief posts on a forum and finds out how to change it :D

It's the first thing the Police look at when a camera is stolen/lost/recovered/found.
