Yes
I have been contacted by someone who is supposedly writing an article for publication in Korea. They have asked me if I would allow them to use a couple of pics for free. with credit.
Do I
1. Offer pics at standard newspaper rate?
2. Provide the pics f.o.c. in exchange for credit?
I will naturally include some kind of licence IF I provide pics either way. Is there any difference with licensing due to it being a Korean publication?

It is a bit of a surprise to get an email from Korea and of course it could all be a scam but I believe it may be genuine.

I would charge them. How much work do you expect to get off the back of being credited in Korea?

Charge them - but you need to find out exactly what the usage is. You are entitled to a credit whatever.

Find out how they propose to pay.
If they ask for bank account details then look out.

Thanks for the replies, I have just sent an email asking for magazine name, circulation and frequency of distribution. I also asked if they might require photographs in the future as this may be a way for me to get accreditation. It maybe better for me in the long run rather than payment for a couple of pics.

I'm admittedly quite sceptical, but i think they will tell you whatever you want to hear.

I would give them a quote based on the information they get back to you with. Then offer a discounted rate for future work as an incentive for them to keep working with you.

I am sceptical to, will wait and see what reply I get and if I can find any info about the publication using the net.
Thanks for your advice,

It's only my opinion, don't take it with much weight.
Most people i quote never get back to me. :(

You've taken the right course of action in my view! I had the same experience from a Greek agency who wanted a freebie, I put my foot down and earned some money out of it :)

don't charge them, get the credit, get them to send you a copy
and ask if theres a chance of getting some paid commission work...come up with some ideas for them!
