After shooting a wedding all day the card is corrupt. The mac will not read it and i have tried two card readers. I put the card back into the camera and now it will not read it. I shoot with a 1Dx so for 9 minutes i was sweating buckets until all the photographs were downloaded from the second card. It was a new card so its going back to WEX
 
I had a relatively new card go corrupt Nick and surprisingly it was with the 1DX too. It was a Lexar 8gb 800x. I've contacted the retailer and they have sent a return proforma to send along with the defective card. My only concern now is that I bought 4 cards at the same time.

I always shoot with a backup card in the second slot, especially at weddings.
 
Hi Si, i shoot with the Lexar 800x cards but never use the second card slot, i know we shoot different systems but does writing to 2 cards at the same time slow anything down, im more thinking shooting bursts at 9fps during the Rugby
 
I think it does Gary, However I've never really tried it though... I use two of the 800x in each slot and not really noticed a stoppage due to buffer filling and not emptying quick enough.

I'm not the trigger happy type though,,lol too much work selecting and editing after. If I was always wiring in images though, I'd probably shoot a few more frames to select the best.
 
Glad you didn't lose any images. I've had that happen before where my SD card corrupted. I lost about 30 images, managed to recover most thankfully. So i fully understand that arse clenching moment.

It's one big reason now why i favour the D600 at weddings now.

I did see this the other day and thought it's one of those great ideas and why hasn't anyone thought of it before. I hope they bring it out. I'd love one for my D700.

Same here with the 1DX, had a Busbi branded card go corrupt on mine, a quick google search shows that some lower end cards are going funny with the 1DX!

I don't know during the Rugby, but I tested dual slots in my D3S and could never find a difference writing 14 bit RAW to one card or 2 on a D3S. Based on some very unscientific testing
 
I much prefer having the two caed slots. With the sports I shot jpegs to both slots on the 1Dx and haven't noticed any slow down.

I use 2 cards on the mkIV and the 1dx .. the saving will = whichever is the slowest card so you need the same speed in both really..

Mines a 32gb backup and 8 or 16 gb work cards.. i shoot bursts but only 3 shots.. i may go 6 for a goal celebration.. dont notice any slowdown..
