Corrupted file?

Took a picture today (raw) , uploaded via card reader but LR wouldnt open it as file corrupted?

So I reformatted the card, same thing happened again :(

3rd attempt I shot as a small jpeg file and then that uploaded just fine.:cautious:

what was that all about? :shrug:
 
could be that your card has some bad sectors, most likely very near the start of the card.

Using a disk utility it is possible to make changes to the filesystem on the card so that it does not use the bad sectors.

However, if it is the case that you've lost some sectors on your card its time to save your pennies for a new one - by definition its only a situation that can get worse.
 
Thank you hyakuhei...as luck would have it I orderded a new card friday so I'll ditch this one then!

I had no idea about "sectors" (y)
 
its a jessops one Flash.....from when I originally bought the camera 18months ago so Im not surprised its had it!
 
I use the canon DPP for a quick view of raw files and lightroom for my processing.
