I have a dvd of my daughter's xmas nativity thingy. I want to back it up and stick it on my Mac G5, but when I put the dvd in I get a whole host of files...

xxx.BUP
xxx.IFO
xxx.VOB

Does anyone know, if I dump them all onto the Mac and the dvd got corrupted, would I be able to restore them in my old age and embarass her in front of unsuitable boyfriends?

Yes. To create a DVD that is playable, you just need to create a VIDEO_TS folder on the DVD and then copy all those files into it. For your own peace of mind, have trial run at it first :)

The vob file is the important one I think, that's the actual video. As long as you have that you should be able to play it via software.
