I know nothing about planes or this kind of photography but I prefer the second shot. I think it's because the plane has more room to fly into on the right and the colour is a bit more vibrant (I know you can't really help the colour of the plane though!).

Thanks for your comment just caught the auster shot so he filled the frame so there was no crop .the second cropped slightly but had more sky to play with
