Happy new year to all!

I'm loving the 5D4. The barn owl came out just as the sun had dipped over the horizon, so had to push ISO up to 3200. There's a lot of noise still, but the shots are very usable even with a lot of cropping. Also, the ability to use the 100-400 ii with the 1.4x with multiple focus points is awesome.

Amazing murmuration displays as well.

C&C very welcome.

Love the Bearded Tit, they are such fabulous little birds to photograph and always look good on the reeds.
Murmuration is a good one but do I notice Corporal Jones out of sync with all the rest, under the group? :D

Nice set :) I especially like the Bearded Tit and the Barn Owl :MrJealous:

When you say the combo let's you use multiple focus points, do you mean more than the central one with the 4 surrounding 'expansion ones'?

With my 5D3 and same lens those are the focus points I get and cannot recall reading that the 5D4 had an improvement on that ???

PS how near is that reserve to the RAF Lakenheath? As sounds like a good location for a long weekend visit :)

What's with the I love Marcel?

Love the murmuration pic against that beautiful sky. I'm planning a trip to Lakenheath this week, quite a long way for me so it's my first time there but I'm looking forward to it. Where is the best place on the reserve for the Barn Owls?

Yeah he's bigger than the rest when zoomed in, so not a starling I think. But he's too low res to make out - perhaps a peregrine looking for a meal?

Yup it's one of the reasons I moved to the 5D4 from the 5D3 - you can use all 61 AF points at f/8! Super awesome with the 100-400 with 1.4x.

I passed RAF Lakenheath on the way, it's about 10 away from there. They were actually do some flights while I was there, had a couple fighters fly overhead which was a treat :)

I managed to spot the barn owl by the very furthest view point (Joist Fen I think it's called). There's a small barn nearby which is where it emerged from, and hunted over the fields towards the poplar trees. If you go past the barn and up on to the bank (there's a walkway there), you can get a nice view overlooking the field which is where the owl was hunting. Apparently there's barn owls near the visitor centre as well, but I'm not sure where.

Thanks for the kind words, #1 is my favourite as well. I love watching bearded tits twittering about and socializing, there was a whole group of them. Bouncing back and forth on the top of the reeds, very entertaining :)

Ah! very appealing...............I wonder what my trade-in on the 5D3 would be??? Oh, the GAS :runaway:

That's great, thanks for the help.
