Heres a courious one. I had to unplug the network connection a few times when moving stuff around in the office, now it's showing the local area network unplugged even when it is plugged in and working. I'm actually sending this over it now. Any ideas what happening, I even have the little screen with the red cross at the bottom toolbar, yet everythings still working ok. :cuckoo:

have you rebooted the pc?

it's probably showing your network cable is disconnected for another network port on your computer.

could be a firewire port. Thses can be used for networking too

Thanks for the replies.
Admirable. PC rebooted after disconecion (mains unplugged as well)

Recrudesce. don't really understand what you mean by this, is this something I should worry about?

Dylanlewis2000.. There is a firewire cable plugged in (not used much) but it's left plugged in for convenience, used for downloading video, but it's been plugged in for ages without the network warning before.

as someone said, it's probably either a duplicated network connection entry, or the firewire connection.

i've never ever seen that before and there are about 1500+ XP machines in our EU network...

Are you connecting via Wireless?
Coz if you are it's the RJ45 thats causing the problem.

Thanks again for the replies.
It's never been on standbye (as far as I know).
I think theres only one eaithernet socket, at least I can only find one.
Connected by cable not wireless (no wireless built in).
It is XP.
If I open the window I get local area connection 2, 1394 connection and local area connection (with red cross) I assume it's connecting through connection 2, but only have the one cable plugged in the usual socket

as i said, you have 2 network ports set up in XP - one of them IS connected (Local Area Connection 2) and one of them is disconnected (Local Area Connection).

ignore the one that's not connecting, it's irrelevant as it's not preventing you from using your PC.
