CR2+JPeg Corruption

Hi,

I recovered some deleted CR2 files from my harddrive, some of them worked fine but some of them would not open in light room displaying the error message: "The files appear to be unsupported or damaged." However the files have a file size etc in explorer, so i'm hoping that they can be recovered or repaired.

Does anyone know of any software that will look at these files and fix them? I've had a look but most of the image recovery software seems to involve scanning the original SD or CF cards, but i'm looking for something to just look at the files on harddrive.

I also have some Jpg's which are unopenable but have file sizes etc.

Any ideas?

sounds like the complete file hasn't been recovered. How do the file sizes compare with known good files?

Well for the CR2 files they range from about 13mb to about 17. There must some program out there that can put the image back together. no?

Would it not be possible to copy these corrupt files to a CF or SD card and recover them from there using something like Sandisk's 'Rescue Pro'?

Were you ever able to figure out how to open those files? I'm having a similar problem after recovering full size CR2 Raw files from deleted trash.

I'm guessing 100% of the data wasn't recovered. Best I'd imagine a program could do, would be to fill in the damaged pixels with blanks.

Almost makes me want to dust off VC++ and have a go at writing a fixer...hmm
