CRB check

How do I go about getting one of these?

I've been in touch with Leeds UTD ladies to ask if I can photograph their teams games this season and they say that's fine as long as I have a CRB and public liability.

Well I have £2m liability sorted, just need the CRB. Before anyone says anything they have a couple of players under 16 and they feel as a club they have a responsibility to protect their juniors, therefore a CRB is required.

Also how much do they cost?

the last enhanced crb i paid for was £36 although that was through a supply agency so I dont know if that is the actual cost.

I cover blackburn rovers (playing leeds on 19th) and they sorted my crb through the club..

AFAIK and im not confident this is correct

You don't need a CRB for this as you are not deemed to be in charge or supervising.

Tony can probably give a better answer as i think he even emailed the FA to ask if it was required

excellent page on your website there KIPAX, i have a number of CRBs (two for agency supply work) and one currently being processed for my new job, dispite having two CRBs i cant start teaching/lecturing until the latest one returns, tbh the whole CRB system is a bit daft, people seem to be under the impression it is essential for anyone who comes into contact with children/vulnerable persons when infact it is only actually a requirement for people who are in sole charge of children and will be left alone with them (i.e teacher, coach etc. as a photographer you dont fall into that catagory because at no point (and you should ensure that this is the case- safeguarding yourself) should you be left alone with children when in your role as a photographer.

sadly however schools, football clubs et al are trying to protect themselves by requesting a CRB from everyone, even those who cannot actually come by one themselves, plus the processing of all these unneccessary CRBs slows down applications for those that genuinely need them to work. but hey in this blame culture who can blame the schools and clubs from trying to cover their own arses.

As you say whitewash.. plain daft.. I do ahve a current one through blackburn rovers ladies fc.. But only because they insisted like leeds uts ladies are.... but just saying you have one to other people seems enough.. no one asks to see it.. also as the lady from the FA even pointed out.. showing someone a clean CRB proves nothing as you cant verify the person showing it is the person in it...

bout time they phased the whole thing out IMHO

Hi Andy, and Tony. I have already checked with the F.A and you are right I do not need one as I am not in sole charge, nor am I eligible as an individual photographer. However those in charge at Leeds UTD Ladies are not prepared to let me photograph their team until I can provide a CRB.

I have emailed to ask If they would be prepared to apply for one for me, I just thought i'd check on here if there was another way I could get one.

Also a CRB check only shows that you have never been caught doing wrong.

well, photo ID /was/ going to be brought in this June, on a continuous monitoring basis, a system that actually made sense... until mr. cameron came along and realised that the crb agency was already one of the least efficient departments in govt, and that they should keep right on with it, so cancelled the new system a month before launch... :bang:

plus the fact that a CRB is only really accurate at that point in time and even then, someone could still have a clean CRB because they havent been caught yet.....


I noticed on here (in the last CRB thread...) that someone offered a service for applying on your behalf (as a sort of CRB application organisation) as a photographer doesnt require a CRB i dont know how they can do it, plus if anything happens that CRB probably isnt worth squat because its not been applied for by either your employer etc

But theers the crux of it... even if they applied they would be knocked back.. But at least they would know.. I doubt they would go to the trouble if you ahvent already photogrpahed for them or they are getting anything out of it... But worth a try

BTW there not playing there home games at Todcaster again are they.. if so your in for a nightmare..

I have asked to cover their games this season in return for them using the images for free on their website. (Similar to what I do for Farsley AFC), all to get the practice in really. So I'm hoping its in their interest to help me get a CRB:shrug:

By the way they are playing their home games at Throstle Nest the home of the one and only....Farsley AFC

yes.. but cant see the logic to shouting out the other line.. I know 3 womens football photographers in your area... dont shout too loud about free

BTW I was the official photographer for leeds utd ladies fa cup final in 2008.. access all areas..
