Create a Diamond Sparkle?

Hi guys

I've created a shirt with a rhinestone pattern on.

How can I takes a photo of the shirt and create a sparkle from the stones - just a few of them?

I hope I can achieve this with my Canon 1D & 580EXII flash. I don't have a studio or other lighting

What happens if you use like f4.0? That gives a cross filter affect right?

25 years ago I used to use a starburst filter, they're still around, google Starburst to see results.

I'd probably look at taking 2 photos, take on of the shirt well lit at about f5 as this shouldn't really give any starburst effects.

Then, take a second at about f11 and use the flash. Hopefully this should give a starburst effect.

I'd then look at putting the 2 images together in photoshop as this will allow you to pick and chose what rinestones sparkle

you could use a brush in Post Processing to add the sparkle to a the stines you want. There is a brush shape in photoshop that matches a starburst filter
