Many Summers ago, I was fairly proficient at designing and building complex database applications. To give you a feel of how long ago, I will say that I was using such languages as COBOL, fortran, pascal, Algol, an early SQL called IQL and Foxpro. Since then, I've only used a Lotus tool (like Access but not, thank goodness) to build, develop and deploy.
I'm totally out of touch with the current tools that are available. I now have a requirement to re-build one of these database applications from the ground up as a browser-based Cloud application. I suspect I'll end up throwing a large amount of money at this problem but, before I do, I'd like to know what is involved in building such an application these days.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
John.
