Creating Chrsitmas card messages in Word

I am just about to start putting the cards together, and have the blanks ready (a mixture of 6 x 4 and 7 x 5 from The Works and Hobbycraft). I know which images I want - a mixture of portrait and landscape), but I need some help figuring out how to print the messages in MS Word. I have a template saved to memory stick from my last PC, but when I open it on this PC everything is out of line.
Can anyone please point me in the direction of how to do this?

This isn't going to help much, but the thought of using Word as a layout programme sounds nightmarish to me. It's for typists. Is the text in these templates in text boxes?

Think about using a graphics programme. Page layout, or a photo editor.
