I am thinking of popping down to the next county match(Nottinghamshire Trent Bridge) for something different, is there any restrictions on photography?
Tripod or Monopod?
I last went to TB about 25 years ago so appreciate the fact that things have changed but remember being able to sit behind the boards 3ft away from the boundary rope, can I still do this?
grateful for any help.

I've never had a problem at any cricket ground I have been to with regard to taking photo's, just make sure you do not obstuct other spectators and you will be fine.
If you have not been to Trent Bridge for 25 years you may notice a few changes. :)

Wy not give them a call and ask them? Better still, send them an email so you get a response in writing...

Notts CC club respond to my mail today.

I asked if i could take photos which i may submit to local editorial for publication.

The reply: "No professional photography is permitted at TB without accreditation"

I understand the reply so i then asked if as a paying member of the public i would be permitted to take photos?

The reply: "Not if you intend to submit them to publications although we do allow members of the public to take pictures using compact digital cameras."

I guess ony accredited Pro's use DSLR's at Trent Bridge!:D

You'll find that the clubs are strict on the "sending for publication" bit...you will probably also find that you'll be searched on entry to TB...so they may take one look at your kit and tell you "no chance sonny".

Given that Nottinghamshire is the "home county" of Press Association Sports and EMPICS, theres not even much point in sending any images off as they'll all be PA/EMPICS that get used.

So they can understand why a bunch of blokes want to spend all day playing / watching cricket but not why an amateur photographer might want to try to capture said activity??

Better of going down to your local cricket club that play on a Sunday, less people and no fuss on taking shots.

I was thinking the same thing. My local cricket club are only too pleased to have someone take some shots that they can use. I'm not bothered about submitting to the local rag - they don't pay for photos and the paper will end up in the recycling trash so its no loss. I'd rather do it for the experience. I know my lens (70-200) is a bit short, but I can crop and still get a reasonable size image.

Why is it that all these sporting organisations get prissy about people taking photos?
