The bridge was built in 1896 and opened in 1897, with an expected lifespan of 50 years..... it is a listed structure and as such enjoys some heritage protection. It still swings to allow river traffic to pass. It is the main A17 from Lincolnshire to Norfolk and crosses the river nene at Sutton Bridge. The village grew up around the bridge and is named after it.

everything I post looks so poor on here though - I can't work out how to post pictures that aren't all soft. What's the secret (not using other hosting sites, I can't do them).

I think you have to cross your fingers and hope.

I can't work it out. I always post the same way via IMGUR (it's free) but some of my pictures look soft and some look ok. There's doesn't seem to be any reason behind it.
