Has anyone got one??

I'm going to get one for my birthday and just wondered if anyone had got one. Thought it may be a good idea as I can't find any bags I like in the UK and I am off to New York in june, so I may find a more funky bag there :D
 
we have bought a couple of crumpler bags, and a backpack recently and have to say the quality is good, size inside can be misleading but worth buying when reduced
 
Cool thanks, I will get one just to protect my camera whilst being carried around my neck and in my handbag :)
 
Oooh - that banana hammock is a good idea (though a terrible terrible name :D ). I also have a Kelly Moore which I love :love: and even made a funky bag myself.

Taking up photography has just opened up a whole new world of bags to me! :D

Just looked at them bags... nice but expesive and I wouldn't be able to fit my other bits and bobs in...

Here's the two I made. One for me, one for a friend. I'm no great seamstress but they turned out pretty well (and they're all padded and have movable dividers and whatnot).

Wow they are fab!! I would pay good money for a bag like that... how did u do it?? Did u have a pattern??
 
Thank you :) I enjoyed doing it! I got the fabric and hardware online, and used a tutorial for the pattern.

I omitted the zippered pocket and the two internal pockets to make it a bit simpler. If you have a sewing machine it would probably take between 1 and 2 days to do it start-to-finish - including drawing out a pattern on to tissue ... and unpicking the bits that go wrong ;)

They've turned out well. They're not the most robust of bags (certainly won't last as long as a Crumpler or similar). But I've used mine when going to a friend's house, for instance, and to a picnic, where I wanted a nicer bag to take my stuff in. (I'm such a girl :D ).
 
Definitely give it a go! :) Just shout if you need a hand with any of it. It's fairly straight-forward and the instructions aren't bad. The only bit I really struggled with was the front clasp and I ended up with the piece of fabric the closure goes on to being too long, which means the front flap isn't as tight as I'd like it to be. So just watch that bit. There are also a couple of bits in the instructions where she says to put the material wrong sides together and sew and turn inside out, but it should be right sides together. Pretty obvious really when you read the instructions - but just watch out for it.

Will happily give you a (virtual!) hand if you need it. Just shout :)
