custom white balance

I always shoot RAW but I do sometimes set a custome WB as it stops people complaining that my pictures are all orange when they see them on the back of my camera. Other than shutting people up I suppose that in difficult lighting conditions a custom WB could make things easier and quicker in post capture processing, but wouldn't be essential.
