There's nothing cute about something with 8 legs and eyes ON THE BACK OF IT'S HEAD! Eurggh I get goosebumps looking at it, great capture though! Just out of curiosity, what lighting did you use for this?
Thanks.
Just the onboard flash with home made diffuser.
(If I remember correctly it was actually the white opaque plastic spoon from my sons Mcdonalds ice cream )
The shot was part of a sequence .. that was the first of 5.
This will give you an idea of size .. I have yet to see one since I returned to the UK 2 weeks ago.
There were a lot more insects in Spain, that's for sure.
Love the 1st one, great detail. I've only ever once taken a close up of a spider and it was not very good quality at all, but putting it as my girlfriends desktop wallpaper and hearing her scream made up for the disappointment
Cracking find...would love a go at shooting that beast of a jumping spider
Other than finding the zebra ones in the woods I've found several other UK native species in the local butterfly farm...jumping spiders like it warm and the clever wee things found somewhere nice and toasy to setup home. Might be worth a look in a couple of months if others like these things too
excellent set you got there. fav are 1 on own and 3 and 4 of the set. I don't like spiders but since i've had my camera and macro lens I'm getting closer than I use to. Well done.
