D1000 or D500 for a newby

Hello i'm looking to buy my 1st dslr.

I have been looking at the Canon D1000 and D500.

I have a Sony f828 that is to slow for taking pictures of my dogs

So should i get a D1000 and a 2nd lens or the D500

Personally I'd go for a 400D or 450D instead of the 1000D.

get a 18-55mm IS kitlens and a 55-250 EF-s lens, and you're sorted for a great starter DSLR kit.

It's also worth looking into some other brands. Go to a camera shop and have a feel of some bodies in your price range, and pick the one you like the feel of most.

Canon, nikon, sony, pentax, it doesn't really matter, they all have the capacity to take excellent photos.

Small note, Canon cameras have the D after the number, Nikon have the D before...Otherwise it gets a little confusing!

40d or 50d would do the job as well.....these are viewed as being a step up from the xxxd range.

I started off with the 500D and love it, it feels good in the hand (with an optional battery grip) and could not recommend it highly enough.
