I'm looking for a backup body, I'd like a second d300 or d300s but can't stretch just yet. Is a d200 going to offer enough or is it just a bit too dated now? The price makes it very tempting and I know I'd lose some features, but is it worth it? Or should I wait for a 300?

I bought one off here afew weeks ago to backup my D7000. I'm very happy with it, although i think i'm enjoying the ergonomics more than i should so i don't know if you'll just feel you're having a downgrade from your D300. High ISO isn't as good, but i wasn't expecting it to be to be honest. Other than that i'm not entirely sure i'm missing any features just yet, it does everything i want it to.
What is it putting you off one in the first place? I know a second D300 would be ideal but a D200 can be had for about half the price, that swayed it for me in the end

I see what you mean, i use a d300s and borrowed a 300 and even that felt like a bit of a step down even though essentially its the same camera. Think I might have to save for a bit longer! Although to be honest I don't see myself using it an awful lot.
