Hi,all
I presently shoot with a D200,If I splash out for the D300 will i get £900s worth of improvement in the quality of my images.
I know that the camera is only as good as the person using it,but say I took the same shot with both, with the same settings how much difference would I see.

At base iso much the same image, higher iso improved. Focus system Improved, but tbh I think imagewise if exposed correctly I don't think you could tell any difference up to iso 400
 
If you want better image quality, better lenses are what you need.

The D300's improvements will be in high ISO noise (as said above) and newer features.
 
The 700, if I could afford it ,as for glass I have a 50 1.4D,105 nikor,10-20 sigma,and a 70-300 vr,so maybe have to save for the 700.

Handling is 99.9 per cent the same and aside from the larger pixel count, there's little in it between the two below ISO 400 and even a well exposed ISO 800 shot on the D200 will not be that far off the D300, not enough to think there's a massive monetary difference. Where the D300 takes things to the next level is offering more AF points (doesn't it have a fine-tune function also?) and a higher maximum ISO that is much more useable.

Check out the Thom Hogan review - he talks a lot of sense about Nikon :)
