D200, D90 or S5 pro?

Over the coming months I'll be coming into some money by means of overdue expenses etc so I'm thinking of getting a second body. I hate swapping lenses around. It annoys me, so I'd like to be able to go out amrded with one body with a wide, and one body with a longer zoom on. As I see it my choices are either a used D200, a new D90, or possibly a Fuji S5 Pro. I know the D200 may be too good for my kit glass, but does anyone have any thoughts at all on this? At the minute I'm leaning towards the D90, so is that the way to go. Or am I better saving the money I'd spend on a used D200 and save for a D300? I'm stuck at the minute, but time is one my side...hence why I'm posting now!
 
I'd say spend the money on better glass, see if you can sell the 55-200 afs and put the money towards a sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 and maybe a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8.

I have a D700 and a D40 and i'm astounded by the images the D40 produces

I'm astounded too, I'd actually say it's better than the Oly I had, but a second body would make life easier. Of course I could look at another D40 or a D60 :thinking:
 
it's your money but I really think you'd get more benefit from better glass than 2 bodies, according to your profile you only have 2 lenses, is your idea one on the D40 and one on the other body or are you buying more glass as well.
 
Better glass, it's amazing the difference it makes, the pictures I've taken with my Sigma 50-150 my kit lens could only dream of taken.

I wouldn't touch the D200 thogh, D90 swamps it on ISO and battery life and everything else tbh.

If I was you i'd get a D90 and a 50mm 1.8.
 
I'm set on a second body, but a D40/D40x would do, and I should have enough left for quite a hefty piece of glass after that.

I'm thinking D40 and a shiney new 50mm f1.4 G AF-S and possibly a second flash gun and trigger too.
 
I was in the same situation as you for choosing a body, and I chose the D200. Managed to find a mint condition one for £400 delivered, yes, the D90 is a lot newer and has better high ISO/battery/video capabilities, but I was struggling to find one for any cheaper than £560+ delivered, they're only £619 new with 2 years warranty! Body wise, I honestly do think the best bang for buck is a used D200 right now...

Why the 1.4? Cut your teeth on a 50mm 1.8 D for 1/3 of the price and then take it from there? I put the money I saved from a D90 body into a mint Sigma 10-20 and that lets me make pictures that a new body with old glass simply can't do! They go used for around £230 + Deliv (or delivered, if you're lucky, like me!) :thumbs:

Bacause the 1.4 will AF on a D40.

If you want a new D40 (the D40x is long gone) then you'd better act quickly, it's discontinued and stocks are pretty low.
 
You'd be paying close to £200 more for a new AFS 50mm 1.4 than a mint used 1.4 AF...if you plan you get more glass, buying a body that has a built in motor might be a better investment? You could sell the D40 and with the £200 difference get a D200 compatible with 99% of all Nikon lenses, and the 50mm 1.8!
