D200 Firmware Upgrade

I just picked a D200 and the firmware v1.

I want to upgrade to v2.01.

Now then, will I need to upgrade with all the updates that have been released or can I just upgrade to the latest which will include everything (like an iOS upgrade)?

Also, does anyone know the features/benefits of upgrading? I read something a battery light blinking issue. I don't have that so if that's all it is I won't bother.

OK, I am going for it. Downloaded, but can't work out how to do it.

The PDF from Nikon says there is an upgrade button in the firmware menu - all I can see are the versions.

Any ideas anyone?
 
Basic Upgrade instructions: for detailed instructions, see pdf files below.

1.Download and expand the firmware files
2.Format an approved CF card in the camera (do not use a Microdrive card to perform this update)
3.Connect Camera to computer (in MSC USB mode) or use a CF Card Reader (do not use a Lexar Jump Shot USB cable to perform this update)
4.Copy to the top level of the card the downloaded "A firmware" file
5.Disconnect camera from computer
6.Update the firmware from the "Setup" menu
7.Follow the camera's on-screen menus
8.Repeat steps 2 through 7 using the "B Firmware"
9.Re-format Card

Have you downloaded the 'A firmware' update onto a card in the camera?
 
Yes. Downloaded both and then put just one on the root of the card.

Nothing is showing up.

The only thing on the screen is showing the version numbers.
 
So you downloaded the file:-
Did you unpack it so that you have 2 x .bin files? (A&B)
Did you switch the camera off and put the 'A' .bin file only onto a formatted card and put it into the card slot?
Did you navigate to Setup > Firmware Version?
Did you right click Firmware Version and see Version UP?
Did you right click Version UP to start the process?
Did you repeat for the 'B' .bin file?

Yes, I unpacked it (well, ran the exe to the 2 bin files).

Then I formatted the card and put just A on it.

I didn't right click anything though, I thought this was an in camera process? If it is and I need to know how to right click on a camera!!
 
Ok, by right click I mean the 4-way arrow rocker pad on the back of the camera that you use to make selections when in the menu.

So with the card in the slot and camera switched on navigate to Setup > Firmware Version.
Press the rocker switch to the right which should bring up 'Version UP'.
Press the rocker switch to the right again and it should show:-

Current 1.00
After 2.01

Update?

Press the rocker switch to the right again or press 'OK' to start the upgrade process.
 
Nope. There is no Version Up on the screen.

Barry, I looked at this carefully, IMHO the firmware update is not worth doing unless you have experienced the battery issue, its a very simple procedure though, which I havnt bothered with
