D200 Outer focusing points

Any other D200 users notice this, I love my D200 in pretty much every way, I rarely use the outer focusing points but today I had reason to, they are rubbish and simply dont work very well at all, any others have this, center focusing point is perfect

The center point is a cross type, the outer points aren't so won't be as accurate as the center.

Centre focusing point is spot on, if I move to any of the outer focusing points the shot at these points is not in focus, in fact the focus point seems to lay about halfway between the outer focus point and the center focus point, Ermm think ive explained that ok :)

Just searching the net and there seems to be quite a lot of D200 outer focusing issues about, seems fairly common thing

Never had an issue with my D200, most of my shots were taken with the outer points.

Will give it a try with another lens tomorrow and see, as i say using the center focusing point its perfect

in fact going back to Toms original post, im wondering if they arent as accurate whether the problem is just me, I only noticed this taking a few handheld shots today at probably 2 feet distance in natural light, thinking back Im sure ive used the outer focus points on some of my studio/strobist stuff and they were fine, Hmm now im not sure I have an issue at all

In good light the outer ones will be fine, its in lower light or less contrast that the outer points will show thier weakness. The D700, and possibly the D300 have a spread of cross points throughout the frame, so it may well seem that they function better. The D200, only the center point is cross type.
